The predictive value of cardiac morphology for long-term outcome of patients undergoing catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation

The prospective study reports 1- and 3-years success rates in a mixed cohort of patients with paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation after a single catheter ablation. Morphology of pulmonary veins evaluated by cardiac computed tomography plays a role in clinical outcome of catheter ablation for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. In persistent atrial fibrillation, gender and NYHA stage seem to play a more important role.
