In conclusion PCT was found to be a promising marker for diagnosing bacterial infections post-arthroplasty due to its high specificity. Based on the sensitivity and the specificity, detecting PCT may be more valuable than using WBC in the diagnosis of sepsis-associated pathological changes in the perioperative period.
