Outcomes of Relapsed and Refractory Primary Mediastinal (Thymic) Large B-cell Lymphoma Treated with Second-line Therapy and Intent to Transplant

Primary mediastinal (thymic) large B-cell lymphoma (PMBL) is a subtype of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) with distinct clinical, molecular and genetic features. First identified as a unique entity in 1980 [1, 2], our understanding of PMBL continues to be defined as new biologic insights are applied to the clinical treatment paradigm. PMBL accounts for 6-13% of all DLBCL diagnoses and is recognized in both the Revised European-American Classification of Lymphoid Neoplasms (REAL) and World Health Organization (WHO) classifications as a distinct subtype of DLBCL [3, 4].
