ConclusionsWe found the precise anatomy of the connective tissue layer from umbilical artery to urinary bladder and the superior vesical artery. Our procedure based on the precise anatomy obtained in this study is reasonable anatomically as a method for separation of the vesicouterine ligament during radical hysterectomy.

This study investigated the modulation of micro-RNAs associated with the PI3K/AKT/mTOR-axis by mango polyphenols (MP) in MCF-12A non-cancer and MDA-MB231 breast cancer cell lines. MP reduced proliferation in the cancer cells by up to 90% (10 mg GAE/L) but did not cause cytotoxicity in the non-cancer cells within the same concentration range. In contrast, in TNF-α-treated non-cancer MCF-12A cells, MP significantly decreased expression and phosphorylation of NF-κB while modulating mRNA and protein levels of PI3K/AKT/mTOR and up-regulated miR-126. The mechanistic involvement of miR-126 was investigated using its...

In this study, Se-enriched peanut protein nanoparticles-stabilized Pickering emulsions (PPEs) were used to encapsulate 5DN to enhance its bioaccessibility, cellular uptake and transport rate. The preparation of PPEs, and their digestion profiles in gastrointestinal tract, cell uptake and transport were investigated. Results showed that the bioaccessibility of 5DN was significantly higher within PPEs (18.3%) than in bulk oil (9.2%). Besides, PPEs-encapsulated 5DN has a greater apical-to-basolateral (AP-BL) transport rate (26.9 × 10−6 cm s−1) than 5DN (21.7 × 10−6 cm s−1). ...

Publication date: April 2019Source: Journal of Functional Foods, Volume 55Author(s): Chia-Yuan Chang, Bing-Ying Ho, Tzu-Ming PanAbstractColorectal cancer (CRC) is a major cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Chemotherapy is the usual treatment, but entails side effects. Although lactic acid bacteria (LAB) ameliorate CRC, the effects of LAB-fermented skim milk are unknown. Thus, we investigated the effect of Lactobacillus paracasei subsp. paracasei NTU 101-fermented skim milk (NTU 101FM) in combination with chemotherapy on CRC, and its effect on chemotherapeutic side effects in vivo. NTU 101FM + chemotherapy treatm...

ConclusionsTiming for oral rehabilitation may differ depending on the treatment modality followed for mandibular tumors in the patient with oral cancer. However, most patients in this cohort underwent rehabilitation with removable mandibular resection prostheses regardless of the timing of care. Endosseous implants were used infrequently, but research is needed to better understand their potential role and indication in the patient with oral cancer.

Here ’s what most medical experts agree on: People 50 and older should be screened for colon cancer. Here’s what is more controversial: Whether that screening should start, routinely, at age 45. Recently, the American Cancer Society (ACS) recommended that colon cancer screenings start at age 45. The ir recommendation was based in large part on an uptick […]Find jobs at  Careers by KevinMD.com.  Search thousands of physician, PA, NP, and CRNA jobs now.  Learn more.

Abstract Parvoviruses are highly attractive templates for the engineering of safe, efficient, and specific gene therapy vectors, as best exemplified by adeno-associated virus (AAV). Another candidate that currently garners increasing attention is human bocavirus 1 (HBoV1). Notably, HBoV1 capsids can cross-package recombinant (r)AAV2 genomes, yielding rAAV2/HBoV1 chimeras that specifically transduce polarized human airway epithelia (pHAEs). Here, we largely expanded the repertoire of rAAV/BoV chimeras, by assembling packaging plasmids encoding the capsid genes of four additional primate bocaviruses, HBoV2...

In conclusion, since HO-1/Notch1/Slug axis plays an important role in breast cancer metastasis, induction of HO-1 could be used as a potential therapeutic strategy for breast cancer treatment. PMID: 30764900 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
