Integrative Therapies During and After Breast Cancer Treatment: ASCO Endorsement of the SIO Clinical Practice Guideline.

Integrative Therapies During and After Breast Cancer Treatment: ASCO Endorsement of the SIO Clinical Practice Guideline. J Clin Oncol. 2018 Jun 11;:JCO2018792721 Authors: Lyman GH, Greenlee H, Bohlke K, Bao T, DeMichele AM, Deng GE, Fouladbakhsh JM, Gil B, Hershman DL, Mansfield S, Mussallem DM, Mustian KM, Price E, Rafte S, Cohen L Abstract Purpose The Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO) produced an evidence-based guideline on use of integrative therapies during and after breast cancer treatment that was determined to be relevant to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) membership. ASCO considered the guideline for endorsement. Methods The SIO guideline addressed the use of integrative therapies for the management of symptoms and adverse effects, such as anxiety and stress, mood disorders, fatigue, quality of life, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, lymphedema, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, pain, and sleep disturbance. Interventions of interest included mind and body practices, natural products, and lifestyle modifications. SIO systematic reviews focused on randomized controlled trials that were published from 1990 through 2015. The SIO guideline was reviewed by ASCO content experts for clinical accuracy and by ASCO methodologists for developmental rigor. On favorable review, an ASCO Expert Panel was convened to review the guideline contents and recommendations. Results The ASCO Expert Panel determined that the recomme...

In this study, whether autocrine IL‑10 regulates Op18/stathmin signaling in NCI‑H1299 cells was examined by neutralizing IL‑10 using a targeted antibody. In vitro neutralization of IL‑10 by anti‑IL‑10 antibody impaired the capacities of the NCI‑H1299 cells to proliferate, form colonies and migrate. Furthermore, the expression levels of caspase‑3 and ‑8, and sensitivity to Taxol were increased. Neutralizing IL‑10 downregulated Op18/stathmin expression and its phosphorylation at Ser25 and Ser63 sites, and suppressed the activities of upstream kinases, extracellular signal‑regulated kinase (ERK...

Authors: Zhao Y, Onda K, Sugiyama K, Yuan B, Tanaka S, Takagi N, Hirano T Abstract In the present study, the antitumor effects of arsenic disulfide (As2S2) on the proliferative, survival and migratory ability of human breast cancer MCF‑7 and MDA‑MB‑231 cells were investigated, and its potential underlying molecular mechanisms with an emphasis on cell cycle arrest, apoptosis induction, autophagy induction and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation were determined. The results indicated that As2S2 significantly inhibited the viability, survival and migration of breast cancer cells in a dose‑dependent m...

Authors: Zhuang L, Lai J, Chen K, Ding T, Yuan Y, Ma Y, Kang H, Lin Z, Fan N, Ma J, Zeng Q, Xu X, Wang Q, Chen B Abstract The aim of the present study was to prospectively evaluate the recurrence and survival outcome of primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) with intraocular involvement. For this purpose, a prospective cohort of 103 pathologically confirmed patients with PCNSL was enrolled in this study. Ophthalmologic examinations were performed both at diagnosis and during follow‑up. The patients with PCNSL with suspected intraocular involvement underwent vitrectomy for confirmation. Patients who prese...

Inhibitory effects of Schisandrin B on human prostate cancer cells. Oncol Rep. 2018 Oct 15;: Authors: Nasser MI, Han T, Adlat S, Tian Y, Jiang N Abstract Prostate cancer is a serious affliction worldwide. Although much progress has been made in the study of prostate cancer prevention and treatment, less attention has been paid to the molecular mechanism of the disease. The molecular arrangement by which Schisandrin B (Sch B) induces human prostate cancer cytotoxicity was comprehensively examined in the present study. As indicated by the results of flow cytometric and western blot analysi...

GLIS2 redundancy causes chemoresistance and poor prognosis of gastric cancer based on co‑expression network analysis. Oncol Rep. 2018 Oct 15;: Authors: Yuan J, Tan L, Yin Z, Tao K, Wang G, Shi W, Gao J Abstract Gastric cancer is currently the fourth most common cancer and the third leading cause of cancer‑associated mortality worldwide. Studies have identified that certain biomarkers contribute to the prognosis, diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer. However, the biomarkers of gastric cancer are rarely used clinically. Therefore, it is imperative to define novel molecular networks and key genes...

The diagnostic value of circulating microRNAs as a biomarker for gastric cancer: A meta‑analysis. Oncol Rep. 2018 Oct 11;: Authors: Wei H, Pu K, Liu XG, Li BX, Zhang HS, Wang H, Wang H, Sun WM, Wang YP Abstract Recently, cancer research microRNA studies have drawn great attention. However, the results of these studies have been inconsistent and variable regarding the availability of circulating miRNAs in gastric cancer (GC) diagnosis. Thus, results should be interpreted cautiously. The purpose of the present study was to assess the diagnostic performance of circulating miRNAs in GC diagnosis. We cond...
