XDRB carriers among travelers: One-third were never hospitalized previously

Since the 2000s, the spread of extensively drug-resistant bacteria (XDRB) is a worldwide phenomenon that represents an important public health issue. Several studies have suggested a higher risk of infection in previously colonized patients [1,2] and a higher risk of morbidity and mortality [3,4], usually related to little antibiotic resources.
