Comment on “Nasolabial Flap Improves Healing in Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw” by Lemound et al

We read with great interest the article by Lemound et  al,1 who used nasolabial flaps to cover the decorticated bone wound in patients with medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ), reporting excellent healing rates. We agree with Lemound et al that wound closure using reliable, unaffected, and sufficient soft tissues such as nasolabial fl aps is essential for long-term success in the surgical treatment of MRONJ. In their article, they described the use of cranially pedicled nasolabial flaps for defects in the maxilla and caudally pedicled nasolabial flaps for defects in the mandible.
