Atlantic Safety Products, Inc. Adds More Fentanyl Resistant Gloves to Their Product Line.

Atlantic Safety Products, Inc. is pleased to announce that their Orange Lightning and InTouch B311 Nitrile Gloves passed permeation testing for fentanyl per ASTM Standard D 6978-05. The tests were conducted for 240 minutes on each glove specimen and there was no material breach on either glove during this time. These two gloves join their Black Lightning Glove in their family of fentanyl resistant gloves. The addition of the Orange Lightning Glove is an important step to protect EMS Technicians and Paramedics. The Orange Glove allows the wearer to see and distinguish different fluids that may be on the glove. While protecting them from an accidental exposure to this deadly agent. Fentanyl and its analogues are designed to be absorbed into the body by means of ingestion, contact with mucous membranes, inhalation and via transdermal transmission. Two to three milligrams of the drug, approximately the amount of 5 to 7 grains of table salt, will induce respiratory depression or arrest and possibly death. The design of the drug puts Law Enforcement and First Responder personnel at risk every time they conduct a search or respond to a medical emergency. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, 2016 data shows over a 500% increase in deaths from fentanyl and its analogues over a three-year period.
