The relationship of endocannabinoidome lipid mediators with pain and psychological stress in women with fibromyalgia – a case control study

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a heterogeneous and complex syndrome manifested as generalized hyperalgesia and chronic widespread musculoskeletal pain (CWP). Common symptoms of FM also include, stiffness, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and cognitive dysfunction1 and common co-morbidities include depression, anxiety, and stress.2 The prevalence of FM is 2-4%,3,4 peaks around 55-65 years of age, and shows a strong female predominance.5 FM results in physical and psychological distress, reduced quality of life, increased use of health resources, and loss of work productivity.
