Brown Fat Activation, Sleep Restriction and Obesity
Conclusion: Our preliminary studies showed the relation between BAT thermogenesis and sleep, suggesting its implication for health. This study, which evaluated the impact of SR on BAT and its role on RecS, will provide information on the function of BAT that will be relevant for individuals with sleep disorders and those at risk of obesity and its associated chronic metabolic conditions; namely type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. The outcome of this study may provide further insight for treatment related to sleep disorders and obesity by providing information on the physiological role of BAT in sleep homeostasis.
