Dosimetry of Urinary Bladder Cells at Risk in Diagnostic Radiopharmaceuticals

Conclusion: In this work, the basal cells the transitional epithelium are addressed as the urinary bladder cells at risk. Current dosimetry approaches fails to address these cells and thus overestimate the radiation dose to the urinary bladder. The dynamics of urine elimination not only impacts the magnitude of emissions within the bladder but also the absorbed energy within the basal cells. The overestimates of current approaches can have a negative impact on the diagnostic and potential therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals; particular for possible Auger and alpha emitters.
