Three-dimensional analysis of submacular perforating scleral vessels by enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography

Conclusion: This is the first description of three-dimensional EDI-SDOCT visualization of submacular PSV in healthy eyes. This method allows for in vivo imaging of a critical component of outer retinal perfusion at the posterior pole.

The objective was to compare the use of corpus luteum (CL) vascular perfusion to CL diameter and/or echogenicity to diagnose pregnancy at 21 d after timed-AI. Ovaries of Nelore heifers were assessed using ultrasonography in B-mode and color Doppler simultaneously 21 d after timed-AI (n = 113). Objective evaluations were performed using an image processing software to extract the number of colored pixels (ColorPix), diameter (mm) and echogenicity/mm² (EchoPix) of the CL. Subjective evaluations of the CL were performed by five evaluators using scores of estimated vascular perfusion area of color Doppler scan videos ...

CONCLUSIONS: BAC causes hypoactivity in the paraterminal gyri and is the most likely explanation for its tristolytic effect, suggesting that the paraterminal gyrus is the limbic cortical locus for the emotion of sadness. Increased activity in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortices may be occurring via connectional diaschisis, and suppression by overactive paraterminal gyri during depression may account for some of the neurocognitive deficits observed during depressive episodes. First magnetic particle imaging angiography in human sized organs by employing a multimodal ex vivo pig kidney perfusion system. Physiol Meas. 2019 Sep 13;: Authors: Molwitz I, Ittrich H, Knopp T, Mummert T, Salamon J, Jung C, Adam G, Kaul MG Abstract Objective
Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) is a new, fast and three-dimensional imaging technique, which is considered promising for angiographies. As available MPI-scanners suffer from restricted spatial resolution and are mostly constructed for small animal imaging, no vessels within one organ have been depicted by MPI, yet. The purpose of this...

AbstractGliomas are the most common type of primary brain tumors and are classified as grade IV. Necrosis and hypoxia are essential diagnostic features which result in poor prognosis of gliomas. The aim of this study was to report quantitative temporal analyses aiming at determining the hypoxic regions in glioblastoma multiforme and to suggest an optimal time for the clinical single scan of hypoxia. Nine subjects were imaged with PET and 18F-FMISO in dynamic mode for 15  min followed with static scans at 2, 3 and 4 h post-injection. Spectral analysis, tumor-to-blood ratio (TBR) and tumor-to-normal tissue ratio (T...

In this study, a simple whole-eye perfusion model was designed and its application was explored for screening targeted formulation across the full-thickness cornea using confocal laser scanning microscopy. PEG-cholecalciferol-based integrin targeted coumarin-6 micelles (TC6M) and non-targeted coumarin-6 micelles (NTC6M) were developed by solvent diffusion evaporation technique. The formulations NTC6M and TC6M had particles size 23.5 ± 5 nm and 28.5 ± 6 nm respectively and osmolality of 294-300 mOsml/Kg. The whole-eye perfusion model was developed using porcine eye. T...

AbstractIntroductionHybrid single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with CT (SPECT/CT) may improve diagnostic accuracy in suspected acute pulmonary embolism, but further research is needed. We evaluated whether the use of attenuation correction and/or the depiction of lung pathology with hybrid SPECT/CT could significantly reduce potentially false ‐positive ventilation–perfusion (VQ) SPECT studies or obviate the need for a ventilation study.MethodsTwo specialists (S1 and S2) reviewed prospectively acquired VQ SPECT/CT in 165 patients. Studies were reported using standard criteria and compared to VQ SPECT ...

Objectives The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of a computed tomography (CT) protocol enabling the visualization of the prostatic artery (PA) before prostatic artery embolization (PAE) in benign prostatic hyperplasia, which provides quantitative perfusion information of the prostate gland. Materials and Methods In this institutional review board–approved study, 22 consecutive patients (mean age, 67 ± 7 years) who were planned to undergo PAE underwent a dynamic CT scan of the pelvis (scan range, 22.4 cm; cycle time, 1.5 seconds; scan time, 44 seconds; 25 scan cycles; 70 kVp; 100 mAs) afte...
