Publication date: Available online 23 January 2020Source: PeptidesAuthor(s): Keita Sasaki, Sebok Kumar Halder, Hayato Matsunaga, Hiroshi UedaAbstractProthymosin alpha (ProTα)-mimetic hexapeptide (amino acid: NEVDQE, P6Q) inhibits cerebral or retinal ischemia-induced behavioral, electrophysiological and histological damage. P6Q also abolishes cerebral hemorrhage induced by ischemia with tissue plasminogen activator (tPA). In the present study we examined the beneficial effects of P6Q on other post-stroke prognostic psychology-related symptoms, which obstruct the motivation toward physical therapy. Intravenous (i.v.) a...

Publication date: Available online 23 January 2020Source: Multiple Sclerosis and Related DisordersAuthor(s): Arturo de Falco, Marta De Simone, Florindo d'Onofrio, Daniele Spitaleri, Fabrizio Antonio de FalcoAbstractMultiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease characterized by inflammation, demyelination and neurodegeneration in the central nervous system. Recent studies suggested that patients with MS might have a greater risk of ischaemic stroke (IS). IS treatment with intravenous alteplase (IVA) in MS has rarely been reported. This could be due to the challenging diagnosis between acute IS and MS relapse, considering tha...
Publication date: March 2020Source: Epilepsy &Behavior, Volume 104, Part AAuthor(s): Helene Kholi, Laurent VercueilAbstractCollecting 130 electronic medical records and diagnoses from emergency room stays of eleven patients with confirmed psychogenic nonepileptic seizure (PNES) over a 17-year period (2001–2018), 48 different diagnostic terms were retrieved. This emphasized the need for a consensual terminology encompassing not only PNES but also all functional transient (paroxysmal) events, including episodes of motor or sensory deficits, and cognitive symptoms. ConclusionsThis study is the largest European real-world study ever published on NOACs. It includes all Italian patients treated with NOACs since 2013 accounting for about 1/3 of subjects with AF. The enrolled population consisted of very elderly patients, at high risk of ischemic adverse events. The AIFA registries are consolidated tools that guarantee the appropriateness of prescription and provide important information for the governance of National Health System by collecting real-world data.
When used together, non-contrast simple CT and CT perfusion have higher prediction rates
CONCLUSION: In real-world patients at high risk of bleeding, implantation of the polymer-free metallic stent coated with Biolimus-A9 (Biofreedom®; Biosensors Europe, Morges, Switzerland) followed by 1 -month DAPT showed encouraging results without any stent thrombosis.
