607 risks and benefits of colonoscopy in pre-liver transplantation screening

Usually colonoscopy is part of the pre-transplant evaluation in candidates for liver transplantation. Case series suggest that patients with end stage liver disease undergoing colonoscopy are at increased risk for developing complications including bacteraemia, haemodynamic imbalance, and gastro-intestinal bleeding. The aim of the present study was to assess the benefits and risks of colonoscopy in a large cohort of patients evaluated for liver transplantation.
