Tu1075 EFFECTIVENESS OF SCOPOLAMINE FOR DETECTING GASTRIC CANCER IN SCREENING ESOPHAGOGASTRODUODENOSCOPY: PROPENSITY SCORE MATCHED STUDY

Due to the prevalence of gastric cancer (GC), screening via esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) demonstrates a prevalence in Japan comparable to colorectal cancer screening in western countries. Antispasmodics, such as scopolamine, has been widely used prior to diagnostic or screening EGD in order to optimize detection of minute lesion typically early GC (T1 lesion), despite little evidence to support its effectiveness for this indication and its potentially serious side effects. The aim of this study was to determine whether scopolamine was effective in promoting detection of GC in screening setting.
