Allegheny County recorded 735 overdose deaths in 2017

The Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner released recent drug overdose data. In 2017, the county recorded 735 people who overdosed, 80 more than in 2016, according to a news release. However, numbers have fallen since the fourth quarter of 2016, possibly due to the increased availability of Naxolone, sold under the brand Narcan that can reverse the effects of overdose, as well as focus on the opioid epidemic by county departments, public safety agencies and community groups, the releaseā€¦
