Laze: The New Danger In Hawaii From Lava Reaching The Pacific

“Laze”, or lava morphing into a haze-is the result when hot lava mixes with the cool ocean, producing hydrochloric acid and steam, shooting particles of volcanic glass into the air. This new threat emerged after lava crossed Highway 137 last night and merged with the Pacific Ocean.
