Extended spectrum beta-lactamase producing Enterobacteriaceae infections in haematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients: epidemiology and molecular characterization
Bacterial infections are common complications in hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients. They represent an important cause of morbidity and mortality in this severely immunocompromised population. These infections are mainly caused by Gram-positive cocci. But, in recent years, we noticed the reemergence of Gram-negative rods (GNR) and the increasing of antibiotimicrobial resistance [1].
