Age-Related Recovery of Renal Function after Nephron-Sparing Surgery.

In an interesting article, Dawidek et  al. reported that, in 92 adult patients with unilateral renal tumor, the optimal global renal function recovery occurred 6-12 weeks after minimally invasive partial nephrectomy. Global renal function “did not differ significantly from 1 year post-operatively”. Following surgery, nine patients (13%) developed de novo stage ≥3 chronic kidney disease (eGFR ≤60 ml/min/1.73m2) (1).
