Drug Combo May Help Lower Danger After Mini-Stroke
The American Stroke Association reports that more than one-third of U.S. adults have had a transient ischemic attack/mini-stroke.

Both these methods are ascribed the same threshold values, but whether they produce similar results has not been established in certain patient groups.MethodsAdults with mild/moderate stroke or transient ischaemic attack (N=80) completed two sets of ambulatory and home blood pressure monitoring. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure values...
Publication date: Available online 19 October 2018Source: Neurochemistry InternationalAuthor(s): Seiichiro Sakai, Takashi ShichitaAbstractStroke causes neuronal cell death and destruction of neuronal circuits in the brain and spinal cord. Injury to the brain tissue induces sterile inflammation triggered by the extracellular release of endogenous molecules, but cerebral inflammation after stroke is gradually resolved within several days. In this pro-resolving process, inflammatory cells adopt a pro-resolving or repairing phenotype in the injured brain, activating endogenous repairing programs. Although the mechanisms involv...
CONCLUSION: The variables used in the study showed applicability in assessing kinematic parameters in both the early and chronic period after stroke. PMID: 30338767 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionsUsing a comprehensive all-payer cohort of acute ischemic stroke patients in New York State we demonstrated that patients treated in a hub-and-spoke model were not associated with worse outcomes than patients receiving care exclusively in comprehensive institutions. This needs to be taken into consideration when considering acute emergency services in this setting.
CONCLUSION: Owing to their important roles in physiological functions of brain and in the pathological conditions following ischemic stroke, the astrocytes might be a potential but promising therapeutic target for treating the ischemic stroke in the future. A new study says that smoking marijuana could raise the risk for any stroke by 15 percent and 29 percent for an ischemic stroke -- the most common kind,
(Natural News) In the U.K., there are about 60,666 deaths per year caused by stroke and at least 124,037 deaths caused by ischemic heart disease. With these alarming figures, it helps to know that researchers found that reducing salt intake by three grams per day can lower blood pressure, which in turn can help reduce the occurrence...
Atherosclerosis is more prevalent in Asian population. This distinct etiology of stroke might disadvantage Asian patients when applying.mechanical thrombectomy (MT). The purpose of this research was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of MT in a cohort of Chinese patients with acute ischemic stroke.due to large artery atherosclerosis (LAA).
