Authors: Guarda NS, Bollick YS, de Carvalho JAM, Premaor MO, Comim FV, Moresco RN Abstract Background: Uric acid presents different roles in an organism. High serum uric acid concentrations may induce inflammatory pathways and promote kidney damage through different mechanisms. Therefore, this study investigated the association among high serum uric acid concentrations, renal tubular damage, and renal inflammation assessed via estimation of urinary kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) and inflammatory cytokines in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Methods: Urinary concentrations of KIM-1, IL-1, IL-6, IL-10, and ...

ConclusionmiR-29a-3p played a functional role in insulin receptor signaling in the liver of ZDF rats. YPHL decoction attenuated IR in T2DM probably by down-regulating or maintaining the miR-29a-3p level, increasing the expression of IRS1 mRNA and its phosphorylated proteins, and regulating the expression of insulin receptor signaling-related proteins. YPHL may prove to be an alternative treatment for T2DM.Graphical abstract

Conclusion: Interaction between the communities and stakeholders was limited, as was engagement in T2D prevention and management. This highlights barriers in the collaboration between community, healthcare institutions and other stakeholders which consequently affect the implementation of preventive interventions. Innovative ways to link the community to the healthcare sector and other local government institutions are needed to build the capacity of health systems for T2D prevention in socioeconomically disadvantaged communities.
