From the JACR paper: "We need to figure how to deal with this coming change. And we need to do it in a hurry." Publishing fewer articles in academic journals like this, that have nothing to add to the discussion would be a good start.

That's what drives me nuts. Fine, we need to do something about it. Suggestions? Simply saying we need to do something about it isn't enough. After listening to a bazillion people in the know about AI talk, my gestalt is it's so fragmented that no high level displacement will happen in next twenty years. It's likely that AI will develop as a suite of tools that will help us. But we'd be stupid not to adopt some risk mitigation strategies. Stuff I'll be doing or am doing: - working on passive revenue stream. Real estate, other investments. - improving procedure skills. Relearning things like drains and biopsies. AI not replacing us for those in the near future. and community hospitals are always going to have difficulty in recruit...
