Respiratory subtype of panic disorder: Can serum phosphate levels be a possible outcome to group cognitive-behavior therapy?

Panic attacks (PAs), the core feature of panic disorder (PD), represent a common phenomenon in general adult population and are characterized by respiratory symptoms such as chest pain, choking and breathlessness (Pollack  and Marzol, 2000). In order to group panic disordered patients by symptom, studies have been evaluating the presence of a PD respiratory subtype, characterized by a relatively high number of noticeable respiratory symptoms during a PA and a higher reactivity to CO2 (Freire et al., 2010).
