Atrial Fibrillation Mapping Strategies – the hunt is on

Patients with drug-refractory persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) account for a significant and increasing portion of those undergoing left atrial ablation for rhythm control, yet outcomes remain less favorable than for paroxysmal AF patients.1 New techniques are needed to target non-pulmonary vein (PV) AF drivers or other substrate factors favoring AF recurrence in these patients. Further, many patients enter the EP laboratory in refractory AF underscoring the potential value of mapping during AF.
