Prevalence of diabetes mellitus, cardiac and other comorbidities in a representative sample of the adult population of Greece-comparison with the general population.

CONCLUSIONS: Prevalence of self-reported DM in a representative sample of the adult population in Greece in the year 2010 was 6.6%. Prevalence of heart diseases was 2.7-fold higher in subjects with DM as compared to those without DM.
