Probiotics can prevent bacterial diarrhoea in hospital patients receiving antibiotics

This NIHR Signal gives commentary on an updated Cochrane Review. It provides new evidence suggesting probiotics may be beneficial for hospitalised patients at risk of C. Difficile infection. Probiotics may be suitable for use in high-risk patients needing antibiotics, for example, older adults with underlying illness.
