Morphological and structural changes of umbilical veins and clinical significance in preeclampsia.

CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that umbilical vein of preeclampsia cases has a thickened tunica media from smooth muscle proliferation, which may be an adapted reaction to hypertension.
