CONCLUSIONS: Our results revealed that the type of secondary malignancy depends on the number of years that have elapsed since treatment for primary malignancy was concluded. Meningioma, especially, develops many years after completion of primary malignancy treatment. It is therefore necessary to strive for early detection during long-term follow-up. ConclusionsThere is wide variation in the management of IGCT in AYA across Canada. A 17-year old male with a localized pineal germinoma is highly likely to receive chemotherapy if managed by a pediatric oncologist, while the same patient is much less likely to receive chemotherapy if managed by an adult oncologist.

ConclusionsThe majority of GCT survivors had average intellectual functioning, satisfactory performance status and relatively good quality of life, except in the physical aspect. Comprehensive evaluation and long-term follow-up of GCT survivors are essential to provide timely support and improve long-term outcomes.

Over the decades there has been a trend to use radiation therapy less frequently for treatment of pediatric brain tumors (1). The effort to avoid radiation is not the result of a lack of efficacy but rather a fear of long-term side effects of radiation, including neurocognitive delay and other life-altering consequences. For many pediatric brain tumors, omission of radiation therapy significantly compromises tumor control rates; thus, radiation therapy remains an essential component of first-line therapy for many pediatric brain tumors, including medulloblastoma, diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), high-grade gliomas,...

Authors: Lv K, Chen Z, Zhang X, Zhang Q, Liu L Abstract Most of the brain tumors are malignant with an extremely poor survival rate. Recent progress in identifying cancer stem cells (CSCs) within the brain tumors is starting to revolutionize our understanding in the imitation and progression of tumors as well as relapse and the development of therapeutic strategies. Suspension spheroid body culture paradigm is a routine method in enriching CSCs. While, it was reported recently that CSCs within the brain tumor may also be enriched through adherent monolayer culture with optimized properties. In the present study, 18...
