Alarming Results for Carotid Artery Stenting in Patients with Contralateral Carotid Artery Occlusion

Guo et  al reported outcomes for carotid artery stenting (CAS) in 58 patients with contralateral carotid artery occlusion (CCO). They concluded that CAS in patients with CCO is a safe and effective therapy.1 Age 75 years or older and poor collaterals were predictors of higher 3-year rate of postprocedural stroke, myocardial infarction (MI), or death.1
