Long noncoding RNA LncHand2 promotes liver repopulation via c-Met signaling
The liver is a central organ for homeostasis with considerable regenerative capacity [1 –3]. Liver transplantation is the only effective therapy for advanced liver disease. However, a shortage of donor organs is a real problem across the world. Hepatocyte cell therapy is thus an attractive alternative to liver transplantation. Mature hepatocytes harbor a remarkable capacity to prolif erate upon liver injury [4]. Liver regeneration surely occurs after the loss of hepatic tissue as a fundamental parameter.
