In Reply to “Postoperative Residue Pneumocephalus Progress to Tension After Observation for 9 Years”

It is not uncommon to see air in the ventricular system and the subarachnoid space after resection of vestibular schwannoma in the semisitting position. It resolves spontaneously within 1 –2 weeks. Sometimes, it causes headache. In severe cases of air collection (tension pneumocephalus), the patients show delayed inadequate recovery from the anesthesia. In these cases, after confirmation of the presence of the tension pneumocephalus with postoperative computed tomography, we usual ly release the entrapped air, especially if it affects the conscious level of the patient by a burr hole.
