Commentary on “Primary female epispadias: Perineal approach or Kelly repair?”

Complete female epispadias (CFE) is a rare but easily missed abnormality in children. While severe forms can be readily identified at birth, milder forms are easily missed and present later in childhood with ongoing urinary incontinence. CFE has always been considered a milder defect in the spectrum of exstrophy-epispadias [1]; however, continence in patients with CFE can be challenging to achieve. Leclair et  al. [2] present a series of girls that had reconstruction performed for the management of female epispadias, using bladder capacity as a marker to determine the appropriate procedure for continence.
