Severe aortic stenosis in a parturient with triplets: Multidisciplinary approach for cesarean delivery
Cardiovascular disease during pregnancy is one of the most common causes of indirect maternal death.1 The incidence of cardiac disease in pregnancy is rising as more women with congenital cardiac disease are reaching child-bearing age.2 Cardiac diseases that can be found in parturients include complex congenital heart disease, native and prosthetic valvular disease, aortopathies, pulmonary hypertension and cardiomyopathy. Hemodynamic changes of labor can present unique challenges during peripartum period in the setting of severe cardiac disease.
