Seven-day antibiotic course delivers similar outcomes to 14-days for Gram-negative bacteraemia

(European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) A seven-day course of antibiotic treatment for Gram-negative bacteraemia (GNB), a serious infection that occurs when bacteria get into the bloodstream, was shown to offer similar patient outcomes as a 14-day course, according to research presented at the 28th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID).
