Shire says it rejected Takeda ’s first three takeover offers, including $60B bid

Shire plc, one of the largest drugmakers in Massachusetts, disclosed on Thursday that it rejected a $60 billion takeover offer from Takeda last week on the grounds that the bid was too low. Allergan, another large pharmaceutical company based in Ireland, separately announced that it was considering making an offer for Shire.
