051 Antimicrobial activity of cytolytic Th17 cells targeting propionibacterium acnes

Studies of human skin microbiome suggest that Propionibacterium acnes strains may contribute differently to skin health and disease. In the current study, our aim was to elucidate the phenotype and immune functions of Th17 cells induced by healthy (PH) and acne (PA) skin-associated P. acnes strains, and identify any role played by these cells in host defense against P. acnes. We isolated P. acnes specific-Th17 clones and demonstrate that PH- and not PA-specific Th17 clones secreted molecules sufficient to kill P.
