Clinical relevance and future perspective of fractures in patients with chronic kidney disease
We read with great interest the article by Pimentel et al.1 on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of fractures in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). We support the message of the clinical relevance of fracture events in CKD, and we would like to add further comments on the issue, such as to stress the need to better study the likely underes timated prevalence of vertebral fractures in CKD. To do so, a systematic population-based screening with spine plain films and morphometric studies of vertebral deformity2 is needed.
