Emory gets $12.7 million to continue researching oxytocin
The National Institute of Mental Health gave Emory University's Yerkes National Primate Research Center and Brain Health Center $12.7 million to continue researching oxytocin, a chemical in the brain known for fostering mother-infant bonds.
The research team will use the five-year grant to use technology like gene editing and optogenetics in research with rodents and nonhuman primates to understand how oxytocin acts in the brain, including its role in neural communication and social functioning.…
