UnitedHealth boosts outlook after earnings jump
UnitedHealth Group Inc. posted better-than-expected earnings for the first quarter as its core insurance business and Optum services unit both turned in double-digit growth.
Reuters has an early report on the numbers from Minnetonka-based UnitedHealth (NYSE: UNH), which reported net earnings of $2.84 billion, or $2.87 per share, up from $2.17 billion or $2.23 per share for the same period a year ago. Excluding one-time impacts, earnings were $3.04 per share
Revenue r ose 13 percent to $55.19 billion.
