Sensors, Vol. 18, Pages 3918: Monitoring Migraine Cycle Dynamics with an Easy-to-Use Electrophysiological Marker—A Pilot Study Sensors doi: 10.3390/s18113918 Authors: Goded Shahaf Pora Kuperman Yuval Bloch Shahak Yariv Yelena Granovsky Migraine attacks can cause significant discomfort and reduced functioning for days at a time, including the pre-ictal and post-ictal periods. During the inter-ictsal period, however, migraineurs seem to function normally. It is puzzling, therefore, that event-related potentials of migraine patients often differ in the asymptomatic and inter-ictal period. Part of the ele...

ConclusionOur study shows that Airplane Headache is not a rare disorder in children affected by primary headaches and highlights that its features in children are peculiar and differ from those described in adults. Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder of the brain that affects people of all ages. Approximately seventy million people worldwide possess epilepsy, making it typically the second most common neurological disease after a migraine (Rogers, 2010). The characterizing feature of epilepsy is repetitive seizures that strike abruptly. Symptoms may run from short suspension of awareness to violent convulsions and once in a while loss of consciousness (Acharya et al., 2013). Electroencephalogram (EEG) is the prime signal that has been widely used for the diagnosis of epilepsy.

Conclusions: VSS is likely associated with either hyperactive visual cortices or, alternatively, impaired processing of simultaneous afferent information projecting to cortex. VSS likely results from widespread disturbance of sensory processing resulting in sensory misperception. There may be a number of syndromes associated with impaired sensory processing resulting in sensory misperception, including migraine, persistent perceptual postural dizziness, and tinnitus, which overlap with VSS. Elucidation of abnormality in one defined syndrome may provide a path forward for investigating all.

Conclusion: The changes in the ocular posterior structure may serve as evidence of the trigeminovascular system mechanism underlying migraine and transneuronal retrograde degeneration of the primary visual cortex, which reflects the cortical spreading depression.Eur Neurol 2018;80:130 –137
