Canon Medical wins FDA nod for Aquilion Precision CT system

Canon (NYSE:CAJ) Medical Systems said today it won FDA clearance for its Aquilion Precision ultra-high resolution computed tomography system. The company touted the Aquilion Precision system as the world’s first ultra-high res CT system, claiming it can resolve anatomy as small as 150 microns. The system is designed to provide up to twice the resolution of imaging systems normally seen in cath labs, the company added. The newly cleared system features detector channels that are 0.25mm thick to improve dose efficiency. The system also includes improvements in scintillator quantum efficiency, detector circuitry and other DAS components. “The increased amount of information delivered by the Aquilion Precision opens new doors for healthcare providers. The system delivers higher resolution images than other systems on the market, enabling customers to deliver better patient care,” Canon Medical Systems USA CT, PET/CT and MR biz unit senior director Dominic Smith said in a press release. Last month, Canon Medical Systems said it won FDA clearance for its Aplio i600 ultrasound system. The post Canon Medical wins FDA nod for Aquilion Precision CT system appeared first on MassDevice.
