Childhood adversities as predictors of improvement in psychiatric symptoms and global functioning in solution-focused and short- and long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy during a 5-year follow-up

When adults suffering from depressive and anxiety disorders come to health services, they often present a problematic developmental history originating already in early childhood (Edwards et al., 2003; Felitti et al., 1998). Hence, an important question for the clinician is whether and how these early adversities influence patients ’ prognoses and should guide treatment choices.
