Mp23-16 ultimate fate of recurrent cystitis caused by esbl-producing e.coli; a prospective longitudinal study
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) caused by extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli (E.coli) have become a serious health concern worldwide due to their multidrug-resistance with seriously limiting therapeutic options. There were numerous studies on risk factors for development of ESBL-producing E.coli; however the long-term ultimate f ate of UTIs caused by ESBL-producing E.coli remains unknown. Thus, here in we longitudinally monitored female patients with UTIs due to ESBL-producing E.coli and evaluated the recurrence rate and causative organism once UTI recurred during follow up.
