Mp80-05 outcomes from a text messaging study performed to better predict post-ureteroscopy opioid use
Opioid addiction is a national epidemic and post-surgical opioid prescriptions have been implicated as a contributing factor. Kidney stone management with ureteroscopy (URS) leads to significant post-operative pain and opioids are a mainstay of pain management. However, because URS is primarily outpatient, there is a paucity of information about post-URS opioid consumption. The purpose of this study was to obtain real-time opioid use data using text messaging with the ultimate goal of minimizing the over-prescription of opioids.
