Authors: Tseilikman V, Dremencov E, Tseilikman O, Pavlovicova M, Lacinova L, Jezova D Abstract Glucocorticoid signaling is fundamental in healthy stress coping and in the pathophysiology of stress-related diseases, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Glucocorticoids are metabolized by cytochrome P450 (CYP) as well as 11-β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11βHSD1) and 2 (11βHSD2). Acute stress-induced increase in glucocorticoid concentrations stimulates the expression of several CYP sub-types. CYP is primarily responsible for glucocorticoid metabolism and its increased activity can resu...

Authors: Mamun MA, Hossain MS, Siddique AB, Sikder MT, Kuss DJ, Griffiths MD Abstract Problematic Internet Use (PIU) has become a concern for public mental health across the globe. However, there are few studies assessing PIU in Bangladesh. The present cross-sectional study estimated the prevalence rate of PIU and its associated risk factors among 405 university students in Bangladesh between June and July 2018. The measures included sociodemographic questions, internet and health-related variables, the Internet Addiction Test (IAT) and the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21). The prevalence of PIU was 3...

In this study, the anxiolytic-like effects of a novel compound, ACH-000029, 3-(2-(4-(2-methoxyphenyl) piperazine-1-yl) ethyl) quinazoline-4(3H)-one, which modulates the activities of both serotonergic and α-adrenergic receptors, is reported. This compound acts at selected serotonergic (5-HT1A and 5-HT1D partial agonism and 5-HT2A antagonism) and α-adrenergic (α-1A, 1B and 1D antagonism) receptors, with good selectivity over other G-protein-coupled receptors. ACH-000029 exhibited high blood-brain barrier permeation and acute anxiolytic effects in the marble burying (MB) and light-dark box (LDB) models of a...

This study suggests FD patients with different types of FT with the course of disease and the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ9) showed a significant difference. The PHQ9, course of disease, and self-rated dyspepsia symptoms (SRDS) correlated positively with the types of FT by the Spearman rank analysis. Epigastric pain, bloating, nausea, and SRDS showed a significant difference between FT-FD and nonfissured tongue- (NFT-) FD as well as between FD patients with and without symptoms of depression. Many FD patients also have FT, which may be associated with depressive symptoms. The longer the course of disease, the m...
