AbstractRetroperitoneal sarcomas (RPS) are rare heterogeneous tumors arising in the retroperitoneum with unique biological and behavioral patterns that are thought to be closely linked to histology. The aim of the study was to audit our results and analyze various clinico-pathological factors including surgical excision, histology, and their implications on the recurrences and survival outcomes in RPS. Retrospective analysis of patients treated at a tertiary referral center in India from March 2008 to July 2017 was performed. The clinico-pathological variables were analyzed for their association with tumor recurrence and s...

In this study, we report a case of radiation-induced leiomyosarcoma 2 years after postoperative radiotherapy for breast cancer. After the diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma, the patient received radical resection of the left chest wall leiomyosarcoma. The patient showed no relapse or progression during the follow-up time of 1 year after operation. Rare occurrence of RIS induced by postoperative radiotherapy in breast cancer and limited experience concerning its diagnosis and treatment bring obstacle to both patients and doctors. Preoperative examinations must be car...

Authors: Albert A, Lee A, Allbright R, Vijayakumar S Abstract OBJECTIVE: Primary sarcoma of the cervix is rare and is associated with worse outcomes as compared to other histologies. The purpose of this study was to identify national treatment patterns and outcomes based on histological subtype using the National Cancer Database (NCDB). METHODS: The NCDB was queried for patients with cervical cancer from 2004-2015. Clinico-demographic treatment details were obtained and compared between patients with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), adenocarcinoma, and sarcoma of the cervix. Multivariable Cox regression and the K...

Publication date: Available online 31 December 2019Source: Fuß &SprunggelenkAuthor(s): Andreas Toepfer, Moritz Schöneich, Primoz Potocnik, Carolin Mogler, Kay-Bernd LannerSummaryLumps and bumps around the foot and ankle are frequent but true neoplasia of the musculoskeletal system is rare and soft tissue sarcomas account for only 1% of all malignancies. Considering the proportional mass of this area, the foot and ankle are affected more frequently by neoplasia than the rest of the musculoskeletal system. Nevertheless, correct diagnosis is often delayed, and unplanned resection of soft tissue sarcomas is not ...

Rationale: Trabectedin is an antitumor drug considered to be effective for liposarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, and translocation-related sarcoma. Concerning liposarcoma subtypes, evidence of the efficacy of trabectedin for dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS) is poor, whereas it is known to have high efficacy against myxoid liposarcoma. Moreover, there are few reports of long-term trabectedin treatment of cases of DDLPS. Here, we present a case of advanced metastatic DDLPS that achieved long-term disease control by trabectedin treatment. Patient concerns: A 68-year-old man presented with a mass in his back. Magnetic resonanc...

ConclusionHerein, we describe distinct DNA methylation signatures in uterine neoplasms and show that array-based DNA methylation analysis holds promise as an ancillary tool to further characterize uterine neoplasms, especially in cases which are diagnostically challenging by conventional techniques.
