Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has emerged as an alternative and a promising minimally invasive treatment modality for certain types of cancers and is becoming adapted in clinics nowadays. For example, in dermatology, PDT is gradually becoming the reference treatment for actinic keratoses (KA), superficial basal cell carcinomas and Bowen's disease [1]. In ophthalmology, PDT with Visudyne ® has been very popular in the treatment of patients with Age-related macular degeneration [2]. In urology, the French company Steba-Biotech [3] has developed Tookad® as a new PS for the treatment of prostate cancer.
