Globalization of Perianesthesia Nursing

LAST NOVEMBER, I WAS PRIVILEGED to attend and speak at the International Collaboration of PeriAnaesthesia Nurses' (ICPAN) conference in Sydney, Australia. In 2008, ICPAN was the spark of an idea when several international colleagues were socializing in London while attending a British Anaesthetic and Recovery Nurses Association conference. Serious planning for an international conference began in 2009 and the inaugural conference was held in Toronto, Canada in 2011.1 Biennial conferences have been held in Dublin, Ireland; Copenhagen, Denmark; and Sydney, Australia.
