We report a case of Roseomonas mucosa bacteremia that involved a 9-year-old Japanese boy who was in a condition of febrile neutropenia caused by chemotherapy for cerebellar medulloblastoma. Conventional phenotyping failed to identify the organism; however, genetic analysis using 16S rDNA sequencing confirmed the pathogen to be R. mucosa. ConclusionsHBOT is safe and well-tolerated in pediatric and young adult patients with CNS tumors. Clinical and radiographic improvements were observed in over half of patients. Clinical trials are needed to establish safety and efficacy of HBOT as adjunct therapy in pediatric CNS tumors.

ConclusionThese preclinical findings indicate that mebendazole alone or in combination with radiation can be considered for the treatment of malignant meningioma. ConclusionMedulloblastoma cell lines accumulate PPIX after application of 5-ALA and become sensitive to PDT, associated with low ferrochelatase expression and activity. Photosensitivity is more pronounced in MYC-amplified cell lines. In contrast to GBM cells, however, PPIX accumulation appears to be reduced, restricted to a subset of cells and associated with lower photosensitivity of the MB cell lines, possibly due to expression of the ABCG2 transporter protein CD338 on MB cells.
