Music therapy aids healing of military personnel

(Oxford University Press USA) A new paper published in Music Therapy Perspectives examines the importance of music therapy in military healthcare. There has been an increase in music therapy to treat combat-related injuries in recent years. With this growth in the use of the therapy, the researchers involved believe it's important for practitioners to publish more program evaluations and patient outcomes data.

AbstractThe effectiveness of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) depends on adherence, which requires retention in PrEP care. We sought to examine factors associated with six-month retention in PrEP care among individuals prescribed PrEP between 2011 and 2015 in a large, academic health system in the Bronx, New York. We used multivariable logistic regression to identify factors independently associated with six-month retention. Among 107 patients, retention at 6  months was 42%. This article examines the effects of a multi-level, community-based HIV prevention intervention for crack users residing in low-income neighborhoods in San Salvador, El Salvador conducted between August 2011 and June 2016.
